The People's Choice takes place on Friday night. As you come in and get your area set up, a committee member will bring around the meat for you to prepare for the people to sample. We are encouraging small sample portions because we need to spread the food from 7:30-9:30. The people really enjoy coming around meeting the contestants, looking at the cooking methods, and getting tips for cooking. Last year, we had a huge crowd coming for this portion of the weekend. It is through the money we make off the People's Choice that we can pay out our prize money. As this event grows, so will the prize money for the contestants. We know this is a timely part for you and we truly appreciate it. Participation is requested to be entered in the contest.
Anything Goes Award: 50/50
Besides our sanctioned contest of Chicken, Ribs, Pork, and Brisket we are offering another category of Anything Goes: This is anything which is a main course, that IS NOT in the contest. We look forward to receiving some great exciting entries. This event is new for 2010. The entry fee is $25.00. Judging will be at 2:00.
Dry Bean Contest: 50/50
This is being sponsored by the Nebraska Bean Association. Get out your old favorite recipes and dazzle the judges. The entry fee is $25.00. Judging will be at 11:30.
Sauce Award: 50/50 Contestants may enter as many samples as they want in the tomato based or other category. The entry fee is $5.00 per sample. Judging will be at 11:00 am on Saturday.
Dessert Award: 50/50
For the sweet tooth in all of us, prepare your favorite dessert. The entry fee is
$ 5.00. Judging will be at 2:30.
Best Hospitality Booth Award: $50.00
We are encouraging all contestants to compete on Friday night for the Best Booth. Decorate your cooking area the way you want. Come up with a theme and WOO the people throughout the evening. Relax and have fun while you mingle with the public to show off your BBQ skills and show the secrets to your success.
The Awards Ceremony will be held Saturday afternoon starting at 3:30 in the tent area. All checks will be issued at this time, with the exception of the Triple Crown Event. Once you've cleaned up your site, before you leave Eagle, hang out in the beer garden and listen to some LIVE MUSIC!! Mingle with the locals, as they would love to chat with the winners of the BBQ contest.
